Forest Trip & Lady Soul
(English summary: went to Olinda again, this time for some hiking and other randomness. Very impressive, stupendously tall trees... and a tiny waterfall, too! :D
Also went to a fantastic soul/funk gig of a friend of mine. So. Bloody. Good.)
Das Unglaubliche ist geschehen... ich war wandern! Freiwillig (mehr oder weniger)! Und ich war sogar beeindruckt (nein, nicht nur des "Wasserfalls" wegen).
Krystals Mutter hatte Angie und mich für ein Wochenende nach Olinda (wir erinnern uns...) eingeladen und wir waren unter Anderem im Sherbrooke Forest. Wahnsinn! Das klingt vielleicht blöd, aber so hohe Bäume habe ich noch nie gesehen. Das Ganze hatte etwas von Regenwald, nur ohne Schlangen und Tiger (aber Lianen gab's).
Das Gebiet zählt als Nationalpark und ist insofern in natürlichem aber von Menschen "überwachtem" Zustand. Sprich: der Wald ist zugänglich und die Wege werden freigehalten, aber z.B. von Stürmen gefällte Bäume werden nicht abtransportiert, sondern dem Wald wieder zugeführt etc.
Das Waaandern ist des Müllers Lust, das Waaahaaaandäääärn...
Raaaaah, Tarzan macht kapuuuuutt!
Angie ist sichtlich beeindruckt.
Ok, es ist kein sonderlich beeindruckender Wasserfall, aber ach so pretty.
Außerdem hatten wir (gestern) ein musikalisches Highlight: Janine macht derzeit bei einem (Spaß-)Projekt mit, das sich Lady Soul nennt und - wäre hätte das gedacht - Soul- und Funk-Musik macht. Aretha, Tina & Co. klangen nie so gut; der absolute Hammer!
Drei Sängerinnen, ein Sänger und ein Haufen Instrumentalisten spielten für rund 1 1/2 funky tunes bis das Publikum völlig durchgeschwitzt, aber glücklich war.
Die nächsten 4 Wochen werde ich wohl dort die Kasse machen.
Janine ist die "linkeste" Sängerin und die Frontfrau von Naked Raven... so laut und mächtig hört man sie da allerdings nie.

What a Beautiful Day
Heute waren wir am Strand. Lozas Strand (auch bekannt als Edithvale Beach, aber ihre Asche wurde dort verstreut, insofern ist's offiziell ihrer). Was für ein Wetter! Kaum zu glauben, dass es Winter ist. :D
Today we went to the beach. Loza's Beach (aka Edithvale Beach but her ashes were scattered there so of course it's officially hers now). What a beautiful weather! It's hard to believe that this is actually winter! :D

Außerdem ist Terragen2 endlich draußen. Die erste Version der Software war ja schon toll, aber die Fähigkeiten der KOSTENLOSEN (und nicht-ganz-so-toll-wie-die-kostenpflichtige) neuen Version sind einfach mal atemberaubend. In 800x600 hat das Bild unten aber auch fast 8 Stunden zum rendern gebraucht.
Also: Terragen2 finally got released. The original software was already awesome but the capabilities of the FREE (and not quite-as-good-as-the-paid-for) version are just breath-taking. At 800x600 it took almost 8 hours to render the below image below though.

3 Annoying Things In Australia That We Do Better
Yes, this is some ego-stroking for Germans... in English... the irony of it all.
1. Bottles, paper, cardboard and plastic are put into the same recycling bin BUT only 50% of all plastics can be recycled. Things that are apparently impossible to return to use include: plastic bags and plastic meat packaging.
2. Australia is all about water saving and the desastrous effects of the drought. Unlike countries without water shortage, however, they still haven't managed to implement a water recycling system that does not include just flushing it all into the ocean. So instead of just re-using water that's been cleansed, they keep getting it fresh from the springs. Every. Single. Effing. Time.
Fun fact: to help the situation, billions are being invested into facilities that turn saltwater into freshwater. And now all together: *FACEPALM*
3. It is possible to transfer money without your name or any type of description showing up on the other's records. So if you're wondering why your electricity provider keeps sending you hatemail although you paid, maybe you forgot to include something in the description line.
